Course Introduction：

This course aims to demonstrate the latest theoretical debates on urban design in the 21st century, with a focus on the recent scholarship of new urban design ideas in the past decade. It provides senior students (architecture, planning and landscape architecture) with edge-cutting theories and encourages them to embrace the current international discourse of urban design, beyond imitation in visual learning. Rather than comprehensively covering all aspects of urban design theories, this course expects students to have a deep understanding of a few selected aspects of recent inspiring urban design scholarship that they are interested in and to further develop their arguments and apply them to their own design accordingly.

本课程旨在为展现国际城市设计领域的最新理论探讨，尤其重点集中于过去十年来城市设计理论的最新研究成果。该课程为本科3年级以上的高年级学生或研究生提供前沿的城市设计理论探讨，并鼓励他们从这些论述中汲取思想与创造灵感，从而跳出图面模仿的学习方法。本课程并不追求全面涵盖城市设计理论的各个方面，而是通过深入讲授特定专题的方式让学生寻找到他们自己感兴趣的主题，并鼓励他们进一步根据自身兴趣提出自己的观点，并应用于自己的设计与实践之中。
