Professor Yang Tingbao, also known by his courtesy name as Renhui, was a renowned Chinese architect and architectural educator, who founded the architectural discipline at Southeast University. To honor his academic legacy, on the occasion of Prof. Yang Tingbao’s 120th anniversary in 2021, the School of Architecture at Southeast University launched the "Renhui Forum". This ongoing initiative invites leading scholars and architects from China and abroad to give lectures, advancing academic excellence, nurturing emerging talents, and promoting the development of architecture and architectural education in China.
The upcoming lecture will feature Osaragi Toshihiro, professor and PhD Supervisor, School of Environment and Society, Institute of Science Tokyo. And OkiTakuya, associate professor and PhD Supervisor, School of Environment and Society, Institute of Science Tokyo. The lecture will be held both at the venue and via livestream.
Cities in Motion: Exploring Human-Space Dynamics Through Spatial Data, Models, and Simulation
Osaragi Toshihiro
This lecture presents an overview of my research on human behavior across a range of spatial environments. By integrating demographic and spatial datasets, I examine how human mobility, pedestrian behavior, and human–space interactions shape both architectural and urban settings. Computational frameworks and multi-functional models are developed to evaluate accessibility and built-environment dynamics at multiple scales. Particular emphasis is placed on disaster mitigation—modeling property damage, evacuation processes, fire spread, and fire-fighter operations. Through these studies, I aim to establish a comprehensive methodology that connects data science, spatial modeling, and policy-oriented simulation to support smarter and more adaptive environments.
